NI3 Rope Dart

My journey into Rope Dart (Sheng Biao) began as far back as 2013 when I started seeing some content on YouTube and it piqued my curiosity to want to learn. I was at a time in my life (and still now) I wanted to learn a martial arts weapon should the situation call for me needing to defend myself. In May of 2013, I picked up my first chain whip online and learned some techniques but then I got bored with it since there's only so much you can do with one hand. The chain links gave out due to its cheap quality and then I eventually made a makeshift Rope Dart with the handle and some rope from Home Depot since it was heavy enough to spin with (which I still have to this day).

I found many Rope Dart videos online I came across videos from members of the Rope Dart Academy. Through years of practice, I could flow with the Rope Dart with relative ease as I jam to my favorite choice of music while practicing at parks. Onlookers would stop in their tracks and would ask me what is that and I would tell them what this was and I gave them some popular pop culture references and then they go “oh that's where I’ve seen that.”.

As time went on, I eventually found others within the space that spun fire with the Rope Dart along with other props that have been spinning fire for a few years. Fast-forwarding to April 30, 2022, I officially became one of many RDA instructors looking to pass on their acquired skills to anyone willing to learn either for self-defense purposes or for those who like performance art.
